John Bason
Chair of Trustees
John Bason was Director of Finance at Associated British Foods from 1999 to 2023. Before joining Associated British Foods, he served as Group Finance Director at Bunzl.
Prior to Bunzl, he served as SVP of Cookies and Crackers for Keebler Biscuit Business at United Biscuits (UK) Limited. Earlier in his career, he held positions at Lloyds Banking Group and Arthur Young.
John joined Egmont as Chairman in 2024.
Clare Evans
Deputy Chair
Clare co-founded The Egmont Trust in 2005 with her husband, Jeremy Evans, and Colin Williams. She worked for ActionAid (1997-2000) initially as Africa Programme Officer and then as HIV & AIDS Policy Officer. Prior to this she was at VSO (1994-97), first as support staff in London and then as Programme Officer in Zambia. BA (Hons), Manchester University.
Nick Cross
Trustee
Nick advises leadership teams on brand and marketing strategy through his consultancy Tag-Red. He has held board positions in market research, consulting, advertising, retail and consumer banking, and has been a trustee of a number of not-for-profit organisations, including RSPB and the National Youth Agency. He read Modern History at Cambridge University.
Rachel Foster
Trustee
Born in Pakistan, Rachel grew up in Kenya. Over her 40-year career in education, Rachel has worked as a teacher and headteacher in schools in Kenya and the UK and has previously been involved in charity work based in Kenya. Most recently, Rachel was part of the Senior Leadership Team at the prestigious Windlesham House School. After retiring from teaching in 2020, Rachel joined Egmont’s board in the following year.
Rory Powe
Trustee
Rory joined GLG in 2014 from Powe Capital, the firm he founded in 2002. Prior to this, he was a fund manager at INVESCO where he managed the European Growth Fund unit trust (1991 - 2001) and was head of the European Equity Team (1993 - 2001). Rory was made Global Partner of parent company AMVESCAP in 1994. BA (Hons), Modern History, Trinity College, Oxford University.
Stuart Powers
Trustee
Stuart is Chief Investment Officer at Hengistbury Investment Partners, a global equities fund which he founded in 2011. Prior to this he was a partner at The Children’s Investment Fund (2004-2010) and a director at Cazenove (1998-2004). Stuart qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte & Touche in 1997. BA (Hons), Modern Languages, St Peter’s College, Oxford University.
Martin Woodcock
Trustee
Martin is Chief Executive Officer of Rondine Capital, a London-based investment firm specialising in the stock markets of sub-Saharan Africa. Previously, Martin was CEO of Millgate Capital, a hedge fund based in New York, for 13 years. He holds a BA (Hons), from Magdalene College, Cambridge.
Jeremy Evans
Chief Executive
Jeremy Evans co-founded Redburn, where he was Senior Partner before its acquisition by Rothschild & Co. Previously Head of UK and European Equities at Flemings; and a Managing Director of JP Morgan.
Jeremy also co-founded The Egmont Trust in 2005, with his wife, Clare Evans and Colin Williams. Jeremy joined Egmont’s Executive team in 2023 with a brief to expand the charity's income and enable more Partner organisations to join the portfolio. MA, Magdalene College, Cambridge University.
Colin Williams OBE
Deputy Chair (Executive)
Colin co-founded Egmont in 2005 with Clare and Jeremy Evans. He spent 22 years with ActionAid, setting up country programmes in Somalia, Uganda (where he was part of the successful early response to HIV & AIDS) and Malawi, then becoming Africa Region Director. He was awarded an OBE for services to fighting poverty in Africa in 2002. He is based in Zambia where he is supported by a number of individuals with extensive networks across the region. Nomuhle Gola
Head of Programmes
Nomuhle joined Egmont in 2016, bringing a wealth of regional insight and strategic oversight to the charity’s growing network of partnerships. Based in her home country of Zimbabwe, she plays a pivotal role in nurturing and managing relationships across Egmont’s expanding portfolio. Her previous roles include serving as Country Director for Zimbabwe at Restless Development and Programme Manager at the BOOST Fellowship, where she led impactful initiatives focused on youth development and civic engagement. Mubanga Kapuka
Programme Officer
Mubanga joined Egmont in 2018, to support new partner development, project oversight, and learning; contributing to the evolution of the Programme portfolio. Based in Zambia, Mubanga works in close collaboration with the Head of Programmes, supporting the entire partnership lifecycle, from proposal development through to project implementation. Before joining Egmont, Mubanga worked with a multidisciplinary environment and development consulting firm, supporting a range of multi-stakeholder initiatives. BEng, Environmental Engineering, Copperbelt University.
Charlotte Wells
Programme Support Officer
Charlotte joined Egmont’s Programme team in 2024, bringing a range of experience gained in both the private and third sector. After studying journalism at Cardiff University, and writing for various publications on a freelance basis, she entered the tech sector, working in a variety of roles over the course of a decade, ranging from senior client success manager through to product owner. Having always had a desire to work in the third sector Charlotte joined a leading UK healthcare charity in 2022, initially working in operations and business support before becoming the charity’s HR Business Partner. BA, Journalism, Cardiff University.
Jake Westlake
Portfolio Analyst
Jake joined Egmont in 2014, bringing experience in design and communications. Since then, Jake has undertaken an MSc in International Development, submitting a thesis on bottom-up development and the dangers of donor-led funding on the development of civil society organisations in the developing world using data provided by Egmont's Partners. BA (Joint Hons), Politics & Philosophy, University of Sussex; MSc, International Development, University of Bristol.
Louise Dixon
Head of Finance & Governance
Louise joined Egmont in 2017, bringing with her over 23 years of financial management experience across the charitable and public sectors. At Egmont, Louise plays a vital role in ensuring robust governance, sound financial management, effective programme funding support, and overall operational efficiency. Prior to Egmont, she held senior finance and monitoring roles with Bridgend Council, Tros Gynnal, and the University of South Wales.
Jane Arnold

Jane joined Egmont in 2015, bringing over 20 years of financial and administrative experience across the public and private sectors. At Egmont, Jane supports the financial operations and programme contract management with a focus on transparency and efficiency.
Eleanor Abou-Sakr
Head of Fundraising
Eleanor joined Egmont in 2023 to lead Egmont’s fundraising growth, bringing with her a wealth of skills and experiences from a career spanning the Arts and Charity worlds. She worked at Christie’s and, latterly, for the Order of Malta’s Global Fund, where, as Director of Programmes and Development, she focused primarily on Fundraising and Communications. MA(Hons) Latin and French, University of Edinburgh.
Jenny Macintosh
Communications Officer
Jenny joined Egmont in 2023 to help promote the work and achievements of Egmont’s Partners to our committed supporters. She brings over 11 years of experience in marketing, communications and publicity in the international development and publishing sectors from previous roles at Book Aid International and Egmont Publishing. Most recently she has gained practical experience of running a local community-focussed charity and working directly with beneficiaries as Deputy Manager of a Trussell Trust foodbank and teaching English to Somali and Ukrainian refugees. BA (Hons), University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
