Providing lifesaving nutrition for severely malnourished newborns and empowering their caregivers to provide for their families' basic needs.

In Tanzania more than one in ten children do not make it to their fifth birthday.

Malnutrition is a leading cause of infant mortality in Tanzania, especially in the first month of life. But with the right support early on, that can change — and is changing, thanks to Egmont partner Forever Angels.

Forever Angels work in Mwanza in northwestern Tanzania, providing lifesaving support to infants whose mothers are seriously ill or have passed away during childbirth. Where babies can’t be breastfed, they are given emergency formula milk that keeps them alive.

Forever Angels' work doesn’t stop there.

To ensure lifelong health for a baby, Forever Angels also provides holistic support for their families through a year-long programme enabling them to provide for their families long term.

This includes child health workshops and crisis support to meet urgent needs when they are first referred to Forever Angels, such as medical costs, emergency food and rent. Once stability has been achieved, caregivers are equipped with skills, training and tools to establish sustainable small businesses.
