Ace Africa
Improving vocational skills and income opportunities among vulnerable young mothers in Kenya's Siaya County.
Based in Siaya County near the Ugandan border, where high HIV prevalence means more than 1 in 5 children have lost a parent, Ace Africa's mission is to improve the lives of children and their communities through cost-effective programmes.
Ace Africa’s current two year proproject aims to address income inequality among 280 young mothers and strengthen their ability to provide for the 1,400 children and other family members in their care.
Young mothers with small businesses are being supported to enhance and expand their businesses through entrepreneurship training and induction into savings and loan groups. Others are participating in certified vocational skills courses including dress making, hairdressing, construction and communication technology to enable them to set up new businesses or find formal employment.
